Electric trucks in heavy haulage: future or science fiction?
Electric trucks are shown at every big trade fair — but anyone transporting heavy agricultural machinery across Europe looks at range, payload and charging time.
The range problem
A fully loaded 40-ton articulated truck consumes approx. 1.2 kWh per kilometre. A 500 kWh battery realistically delivers 400 km. For Europe-wide tours that is not enough today.
Payload loss
Batteries are heavy. An e-articulated truck loses around 2 tons of payload. Critical for machines at 40-ton single weight.
Charging infrastructure
Megawatt charging stations have only been built in pilot networks since 2024. Europe-wide coverage: realistic from 2028.
Our status
Currently no e-truck in our fleet. When range and payload match, we will move.
